Why choose in home childcare?

This is my purpose! Yesterday afternoon, I received a message from an old parent that was with me when her son was about 12 months of age. This was 5 years ago! The parent told me how she felt bad that she never formally said goodbye and thanked me for my patience and understanding as she was going through her own personal issues. This was right on time for me. I had been having doubts of whether or not to stay in corporate childcare and management or to venture off into another field, or to get back into in home care. That was just the push I needed to make me feel validated again.

Rates. I say that to say, most in home childcare providers are considerably more cost efficient than larger corporate or franchised childcare programs. Additionally, parents can feel more comfortable with the home-like feeling and small, cozy atmosphere of someone else's home for their little one. The intimate setting helps small children get more acclimated to other adults and children.

Large facilities aren't for everyone. At the most recent private preschool I worked at, we had our work cut out for us with 'behavior' challenges. In most cases, these students just wanted more attention than a teacher with 14 other students could provide. Nothing wrong with that! Students can be eased into a larger pre-k setting around age 4-5.
